Diploma in Integrated Aquaculture and Agriculture (IAA)

DIAA is a two year program that aims at churning out learners who are all round, that is; learners who will be equipped with all round knowledge and skills in crop, animal and fisheries as demanded by the world of work. This is in line with Government policies and interventions that are directed towards making agricultural sector more productive, service-oriented, sustainable and competitive. Courses in the program have been modelled in such a way that learners will acquire skills and knowledge relevant to solving the present day challenges.

The Diploma programme shall normally extend over a period of two (2) academic years and each year consist of two semesters of 17 weeks each comprising of fifteen (15) weeks of classes and two weeks (2) of examinations. There shall be one recess term of 10 weeks in the first year

The General objectives of the programme are to train competent graduates who can:

  1. Integrate different crop and livestock production systems with Aquaculture production.
  2. Participate in transformation of agricultural and aquaculture production for food and income security in communities by attracting the youth into agri-aquacultural production as a vocation
  3. Ensure environmental protection and sustainability.

Admission to the Diploma in Integrated Aquaculture and Agriculture Programme shall be done in accordance with Joint Admission Board (JAB) regulations.

In addition, the candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Programme on meeting any of the following minimum requirements.

Direct Entry
At least one principal pass and two subsidiary in Agriculture, Biology and Chemistry obtained at the same sitting of the Advanced Certificate of Education Examinations or its equivalent.

Certificate holders
A candidate must have passed with at least a Second-class certificate in Fisheries, Agriculture or related fields from a recognized Institution.

Entry in Year Two
A candidate should have a Certificate in Integrated Aquaculture.
